Do ordinary things extraordinarily well and consistently over a long period of time, and that creates miracles.

A Quick Note While I Recover

Yesterday I had sinus surgery and am still recovering, so this is going to be a slightly different note. (And when I say I am recovering, I fell like I got hit by a truck!)

There are a lot of new people here, and I wanted to say hello before sending you another email about AI or technology decisions.

I’m Jared. I run Alliance Technologies, and a lot of my time goes into figuring out how technology can help a business do what it exists to do. Sometimes that involves AI. Sometimes it involves fixing a process that has been frustrating people for years. Sometimes the technology is perfectly fine and we need to have a conversation.

That last one comes up more than you’d think.

I’ve been building for 17 years now.

Recently, we got our leadership team together for an offsite. We stepped away from the usual updates and spent time talking about the company we’re trying to build and what that asks of us as leaders.

One question we worked through was what we would do differently if we were starting the business from scratch today.

I like that question because it makes me look at my own decisions. There are things in a business that made sense when you put them in place. You hired around a need, built a process around a problem, or started doing something yourself because there was no one else.

Then the company changes. You don’t always stop to reconsider those choices.

I’m working through that at Alliance. I want a team that can make good decisions, challenge an idea, and move the business forward without waiting for me to weigh in on everything. My part is making the direction clear enough for them to do that, then giving them room to think.

I’m still figuring out how to get that right.

That’s some of what you’ll get here, alongside the technology.

I’m interested in what AI makes possible, especially for businesses that build things, make things, and solve difficult problems for their customers. I want to understand where it genuinely helps and where it just seems like a parlor trick.

You’ll hear my perspective as somebody running a company while trying to make those same decisions. You’ll also notice my Christian faith shapes how I approach the work and the responsibility that comes with leading people. I won’t have every answer, but I want these emails to help you think through the questions in front of you.

Usually, that means something practical you can take back to your business. Today, it means a proper introduction while I recover.

If you’re new, I’m glad you’re here. If you’ve been reading for a while, thank you for continuing to make room for these notes.

Hit reply and tell me a little about the business or team you lead. I’d like to know who’s on the other side of the email.

Until next week,

—Jared

Stop losing deals in between meetings.

Aligned is changing how B2B teams run their most important deals.

Most reps guess where a deal really stands. They forecast on a gut feeling and the buyer’s word vs what's actually happening. Then they realize the deal slipped through only after it's too late. Aligned surfaces what buyers are actually doing inside every deal: the risks, the openings, and the exact next step to keep things moving.

Start increasing your close rates and stand up your first deal room in minutes.
